Autodesk 123D Catch
WOW. This tool has been around for a year now but didn't catch our eyes. Just snap a bunch of pictures of the object you want to reproduce from different angles, and the app creates a 3-D rendering automatically. Now also available for iPad (US store). This app is a big step towards making 3D-printing easier and more approachable.

SoundWave: New Gestural Interface using inaudable sound waves
Microsoft's latest technology allows users to control their computers via gestures that are evaluated based on sound. It requires a microphone and speaker to work, as the SoundWave system emits a constant inaudible tone that is altered by hand movements in front of the computer.
Is this technology redundant due to their own Kinect technology or do we believe in it just for the sake of research itself?
